There are some people in life whose presence or absence makes a great difference to us. With their presence they make us forget time and time never make us forget their absence. My granny used to be my best friend till last year she died of heart attack. She left a space blank in our household which can never be fulfilled by anyone else. I missed her a lot after her death, of course I’m still missing her, and my parents too miss her a lot. But with our self pity we probably forgot about grandpa, he was the person worst affected by the incident. The long-term relationship he had shared with granny was the best phase of his life, and he was feeling low since granny passed away.
Life has to go, anyway. I used to think of grandpa’s loneliness more than I did of my studies. His gloomy face horrified me more than anything else in this world and every time I would plan out something interesting like picnic or a flick to cheer up grandpa. But they were temporary solutions… One morning, while flipping the pages of the newspaper, I was suddenly stuck with a piece of ad that read: “Adult Dating Site”. It was a piece of information about an adult dating site that has largest number of members and was the most popular one. Now, thinking of something special about my grandpa, the advertisement was a silver line around the cloud.
I hoped to the computer to do a research on adult dating sites. I thought it would be great if grandpa joins one of these sites. Initially, he was hesitant as he was skeptical about function of the dating sites. But I knew he needed it badly and I managed to convince the old chap to enter into the dating scene.
Grandpa was not that much used to handling computer, it was my responsibility to teach him everything – starting from managing computer to visit different adult dating sites to create profile and start chatting. After 3-4 days, grandpa was an expert. These days, whenever he is getting time- after morning walk or evening tea- he is logging in to one of the adult dating sites and getting busy in talking to them. I think he is having a blast on those sites. Now I’m quite relaxed.
I feel the adult dating sites are doing a great job as they are proving a wider space for the elderly people to make a community and share their feelings.
