When I was in high school, I had a best friend. We were in the same grade but I was brand new and she was a veteran, and she took me under her wing. Lana was smart, cute and outspoken, a chubby little ball of energy. We stayed friends past high school and into our 20s. I married my high school sweetheart, and Lana began to date his best friend, and we all hung out together. Before long, those two were married, too.
Things often happen in life to take friends on different paths; it happened to us. We each had kids, then I divorced, and then we all moved to other cities. It's no big surprise we slowly grew apart and lost track of each other.
