Putting Wedding Cameras on Your Wedding Accessories List

What would weddings be without cameras and pictures? Oh sure, the couple could still get married, but it would be much harder to preserve the memories of that special day without the photographic evidence. As your planning your big day and purchasing the appropriate accessories, remember this key principle: Good weddings hire a professional photographer; great weddings hire a professional, but also include the guests in the picture-taking by providing them wedding cameras.

Wedding cameras for the guests? Absolutely! After all, you've spent months, possibly years planning for this big day. And yet everything goes by in a flash once the day finally arrives. No single photographer, no matter how experienced, can possibly capture every moment, and certainly cannot capture them from every angle. That's why you provide wedding cameras to the guests. By doing so, you'll have photographers sprinkled throughout the entire auditorium. Now you can see the lighting of the Unity Candle from three or four different directions, and you can get the kissing of the bride from both up-close and a bit more distant. Once the wedding is over, the guest who took the pictures can keep a set of the photos for him or herself, but they naturally will want to share a set with the happy couple as well.

Imagine how much richer your wedding album is going to be now that you have such a vast assortment of photos to include. Naturally, you'll want to feature the photos by the professional as the centerpiece of your album; quality is his hallmark, after all. But photos taken by a more "average Joe and Joanna" view, however, offers an irresistible element of charm to your album. And that's the benefit of these wedding cameras.

So what kind of cameras are we talking about? Is this even an affordable options? Yes, it absolutely is. We're not talking about purchasing 50 state-of-the-art digital cameras. Instead, wedding cameras are disposable, single-use cameras like you might find at any drug or department store. However, they are usually done in designs that can coordinate well with your overall wedding theme.

For instance, there are wedding cameras decorated in beach designs, seashell designs, butterflies, Chinese elements, and more. Or for a more standard black-tie wedding, there are sophisticated black-and-white wedding cameras.

So what is the proper wedding etiquette for use of guest wedding cameras? Most families simply set up a table with the cameras made available and labeled so that the guests know they are to use them. Some people choose to actually have ushers handing out the cameras before the ceremony gets underway. And still others wait and offer the cameras during the reception activities. Therefore, along with the other table decorations, a camera is set at every chair.

In most cases, the guest who took the pictures will voluntarily offer a set of the photos to the bride and groom. If they don't, however, you could send them a gentle reminder with your "Thank You" note, thanking them for attending the wedding and for taking the time and trouble to photograph the events. Never, of course, get tacky about it, and if you wind up with no photos from someone's wedding camera, then just let it go. There will be plenty of pictures from the other more thoughtful guests. And you'll have a lifetime of memories waiting for you each time you open your wedding album.
