How to Save a Relationship from the Financial Storm

You should ponder over how to save a relationship if the present financial storm is creating a distance between you and your loved ones. Financial troubles is one of the highest cause of divorces, domestic violence and suicides. In such volatile times, financial troubles can become your greatest mental stress. That's why you need to protect yourself and your loved ones from this tempest.

First things first: be prepared before you actually get caught up. You have a blessing if you already have time to balance off the hard financial times ahead. You would need to save some extra cash, cut down on expenses and luxuries that you are planning to buy. Do not work in isolation. Take your spouse into confidence and work out a strategy together that would keep the relationship intact amid the financial turmoil. With the stories about lay-offs and harsh downsizing hitting every second neighborhood in these stressful times, you are better off working together with your partner. Your partner is sure to understand your point about cutting in on expenses.

While you have time, try getting your hands on some alternative forms of income. You can save thousands of extra dollars while also adding shinning starts to your portfolio by working overtimes, extra shifts, working over holidays or even keeping a secondary job. After all, a dedicated employee is the one who will survive the downsizing onslaught.

While you are working at improving your income, your partner could be acquiring more skills that can help boost your family income even more. Office automation, database managements and business correspondence are jobs in demand in every office of the country. If you get good at multitasking, the employers will be reluctant in firing you even at the face of severe financial adversity.

What if you have been caught up already in the crisis? It is now time to focus primarily on regaining your composure and any love lost. Do not forget, no single partner is to blame; both of you share a measure of it as a result of habits and personalities you both possess. Either of you may have performed better, but none can be the judge of the other’s performance and individual circumstances.

Your financial plans should be fully coherent with your partner's ideas, and it should be support by both of you. Realize that while you are financially in distress, so is your partner. If you are thinking about following your plan, perhaps it is the same case at the other end. Do not plan things alone, since this will not only make each of you to follow a separate incoherent financial strategy but it will also put even more distance between you. Give the well-known statement 'love reigning supreme' a chance. And hold on to your relationship as much as you can even in the face of an obvious financial turmoil. Learning how to never put a relationship at stake no matter how tough the times are is learning how to save a relationship.
