It's Up To You

A race car driver once gave some advice on how to steer through an accident. He said most people make the mistake of looking at the obstacle they could hit rather than looking for an open field. He then made the point that a person will steer in the direction that they are looking. Isn't that pretty consistent with life. Most of us will focus on our problem rather than look for a solution. If we focus upon our problems then we will never see a solution. When a problem is in its initial stage we do need to access the situation and look at the obstacle. But we don't look at the obstacle and become mired in doubt, we need to find a solution to the problem. In other words take action against that which hinders our progress.

If you were on your way to work and you came upon a tree across the road, what would you do? There are several things you could do: 1. You could sit there and hope that natural circumstances eventually remove the felled tree. 2. You could turn back and go home. 3. Call somebody to come out to remove the tree, then sit there and wait for that to happen. 4. You could find another way around.

Now lets apply these to your business. Lets say you are involved in internet marketing. You have been marketing your website for two months but with little success. You want to succeed but don't know how because you are focusing upon the failure of your marketing campaign. What are your options. 1. Sit there and hope that a series of miraculous events happen that will make your site #1. 2. You could quit. 3. You can hope that somebody (your affiliates) will create your success for you. 4. You could apply the principles used by other successful marketers.

Of course in both examples you should choose number four. The first three in both examples either rely on luck, quitting, or hoping someone else will do it for you. The 4th one requires your own actions whether it is from your own knowledge or someone else's.

In the case of the felled tree you could move it yourself if you are able. If not, you could back up and find a different route. In the case of marketing, following the success of those who have been successful is the action you should take. But the choice to do this is on you. I strongly believe that whatever you sow you shall reap. If you follow good sound advice you will reap the rewards of that advice.

It is impossible for a person to succeed if they quit. If your mowing your lawn and the lawnmower runs out of gas do you just quit. (some of us would like to) No. You fill it with gas and finish the job. In our daily lives we are faced with obstacles throughout the day. But because these obstacles are so familiar to us we overcome them without a thought. Because running a business is so unfamiliar to most of us the obstacles we face appear daunting. Remember your lawn mower running out of gas? You solved the problem by filling it up with gas. You didn't turn it upside down then try and start it. You didn't put water in it then try and start it. None of that would have worked. You did what had to be done to make it work. You put gas in it. When you did the right thing you were rewarded with a working lawn mower.

The same goes for your business. If you are not getting very many if any hits to your website that becomes an obstacle. Analyze the situation, and if you do not know what to do seek the advice of those who do and then follow through with that advice. If one person was successful implementing that advice then so can everyone else who applies that same advice. That is the way life works. Everything has it's own way to it. All things must be done in a certain manner. The moment you go against it you start to encounter problems.

If you choose to either follow bad advice or choose not to follow good advice then you have made the choice as to what will become of your business. Your success or failure is no ones fault but your own. Implement a marketing plan, follow good sound advice, be patient, and you will succeed. No matter what you are up against. No matter how many other people are doing exactly the same thing you are doing. No matter how rich, poor, ugly, pretty, short, fat, tall, etc... you can succeed because..... It's all up to you!
