Most people in our society are chasing happiness but never catching it. They find ways to buy the next toy or status symbol but the joy from that is short lived. The good news is that there is a seven step formula to lasting happiness and I am going to give it to you right now.
Step 1: Decide what you really want from life (your purpose)
Most people never get what they want from life because they don't know what it is that they want. It is very hard to hit a target if you don't know what that target is or where it can be found. You only get one shot at life. This is not a practice match, it is the game. Put aside some time each day to deciding what game you are playing. This is what most success experts refer to as finding your purpose.
Step 2: Discover or develop a passion that is in line with your purpose.
Happy people tend to be people with a passion, but which came first, the passion or the happiness. Happiness is a side effect of living your passion.
If you don't have a passion now then it is time to develop one. One proviso thought; make sure that your passion is in line with purpose.
Step 3: Find a way to support the lifestyle you want, from following that passion
There are many ways in which you can turn a passion into a strong income. For example a passion for sport could be tapped into by becoming a professional athlete, a professional coach, a journalist or author, a TV sports show host, a sports commentator, running a sports focused business, or many other possibilities.
Make sure that you are tapping into a strong market that actually exists now and that you are providing an "in demand" product or service. It's a lot easy to capitalize on an existing strong market than it is to create a new one.
Step 4: Make a decision to succeed.
Decide that you are going to succeed by learning what you need to know, taking the action you need to take and overcoming any obstacle that might turn up. Being definite about your destination frees your mind up so that it can concentrate on getting you there.
Step 5: Take goal directed action
Goal directed action is what converts the first four steps into reality. Take goal directed action every single day no matter what. Thinking about success is important but if that's all you do then you are just a daydreamer. Take goal directed action starting today.
Step 6: Review your results
Every action produces some sort of result. Take note of the result and decide whether it is a step forward or a step backward.
Step 7: Continue or modify your actions as your review suggests
If the results that you are getting are taking you closer to your goals then take more of that action. If they are taking you off track take better action.
Start your seven step strategy today and stick to it. Make sure that you follow each step thoroughly. You will soon discover that happiness is an automatic side effect.
