Hypnosis- would it not be wonderful if we could track all that we want to know from a person who knows it? Would it not be great if we could programme the minds of the hardest criminals to be sympathetic, or of a not so smart person to be trendy? After all, it is all in the mind! Hypnosis literally means a state of sleep but a person, the hypnotist (hypnotiser), induces it? The subject who is hypnotised, as if in a trance, follows the suggestions and commands of the hypnotist: automatic, uncritical, unaware of the environment around that have not been pointed out by the hypnotist. It is possible to alter the memory of a person, make him believe in what is not and so on post-hypnosis as well. No wonder it is one of the most powerful tools in the hands if doctors to anesthsize patients, for psychologists to make a person calm and remove unwanted behaviour, by detectives and the police force to get criminal records and so on. Hypnosis has actually made people quit drinking, made the obese lose weight; make chain smokers stop smoking and what not! It, as is obvious, can be used for evil and erratic purposes too! The concept of self-hypnosis has also come up with the help of CDs and DVDs has emerged. The help of CDs and DVDs is of prime importance as most people find it tough to concentrate without the hypnotist. Self-hypnosis has become popular, as people have started realising the adverse effects of smoking and excess of alcoholism. Hypnoseuddannelse has helped people kick away the fatal habit of taking drugs as well. Instead of the workouts at the gymnasium, self-hypnosis helps to reduce weight as well. This works rather in psychological terms. You can of course do away without drinking, or smoking or taking drugs or even being obese when the mind believes that you cannot be happy without these. Then of course, there is a sub conscious role played by the others- how people around you feel if you do not smoke or quit drinking or try reducing your weight. Self-hypnosis is rather simple. You have to start with a goal in mind, preferably, one that is measurable; say how you feel without smoking. In the second step, while being hypnotised, you need the self-hypnosis tapes or CDs. Have suggestions chalked out about how you want to achieve your goal. Now, apply these suggestions to your brain when you are in the trance or during any other time that is appropriate- may be before lighting your next cigarette. If you want to know your sub conscious self, then you can apply the method of auto-questioning, by which you can get to know what you want or change. Try setting schedules for yourself. In addition, guarding yourself from the myth that changes were a result of hypnose can ruin the initial success. It is natural- let it be so.
