The Energy of Belief


So you have resolved to do it different this year. You know the –it – maybe it’s an anger you can’t let go… a fear you can’t shake… a job you’re afraid to tackle… an old memory that intrudes and won’t go away…an unwanted behavior you struggle to stop. It may be a belief about yourself and your world that keeps you from your goals.

It is like tinted glasses that influence the color of all you see. It influences all you perceive and respond to in the outside world and affects how you view yourself. For example, if you have the belief “I deserve good things” you stand tall and reach for a far off possibility, but if your belief is “I don’t deserve good things,” the energy of that belief keeps even the closest of opportunities out of reach.
Negative Beliefs are Irrational

Negative beliefs keep you stuck. They rob you of your options. Yes there may have been a time that you did something foolish, but it does not mean you are stupid. A negative belief makes you think something about yourself as if it were always true to be applied mindlessly to your whole life.

• I am stupid
• I don’t deserve to have a good life.
• I am bad
• I am unsafe
• I am unlovable

Release the Energy of Negative Beliefs

Negative beliefs act as walls and cut you off from the energy of your intention.
Therefore, the energy required to make and ultimately keep your resolutions is not available. By way of analogy, in CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), unblocking the airways is primary. Airways must be clear for air to freely flow. In Touch and Breathe (TAB), a self-help energy psychology method, you unblock your energy system so you have choices for how to live your life.

• Focused Intention: Next you will learn to focus the energy of your intention. Intention acts as if a flashlight to light the path to where you want to be.
• Grow your Intuition: You will learn how to grow your intuition to help you regain your energy for a healthier life.

Past, Present, Future Working Together

Pieces of an old memory can energetically cheat you out of having an objective reaction to your life in the present, even if a new situation only resembles the old one in a minor way. Even a small overlap between old and new experiences can compromise your life and bring about unwanted thoughts, feelings and behaviors. We call the overlap a trigger.

Triggers

Triggers are forces that instantly link a present day event to a memory and the associated feelings whether or not you are aware of a connection. Triggers are theorized to create or result in energy signals that are the source of your emotions and drive both wanted and unwanted behaviors. You probably have experienced how vividly a thought, smell or song can bring back a particular memory and associated feelings. Anniversaries of occasions both good and bad are well known triggers. An anniversary of a positive life event like a celebration can trigger feelings of joy and happiness. An anniversary of a negative life event like a bad accident can trigger feelings of sadness or loss.
Reaching Your Goals

Release the energy bound in the signals of negative triggers and focus your intention with the energy. Find inner peace to reach your goals and may your peace resonate into the world around you.
