WHY SPIRITUALITY?
My rational mind analyzes, separates and examines aspects of
the world I see and interpret. It is the faculty that
experiences and perceives suffering within me and without
me. My heart is affected by my rational thinking. My
rational thinking may try to 'rationalize' causes of
suffering and proscribe cures. My rational mind may simply
give up and declare suffering inexplicable. Hence, my
heartfelt self may experience sadness at the state of the
human condition, or despair, even depression, or cynicism.
My non-rational mind [what some call the irrational]
synthesizes, attempts to see the wholeness of things. My
non-rational mind is often referred to as my intuitive mind.
I experience it more as a 'feeling' than a 'thought'. It
proclaims that there is meaningfulness in all the disparate,
suffering parts of life, over which my rational mind
obsesses. My non-rational, intuitive mind opts for
contentment, happiness, and inner peace. It senses that all
of humanity has the ability to be at peace...if only... my
intuitive mind speaks...if only we could live purely from
our hearts.
I could say, my heart suffers. I could say also, my heart
heals.
But I am not my mind alone - neither its rational nor
irrational aspects. Nor am I my heart alone.
For beyond all that, I am a spirit being. I am a soul that
has gotten entangled with the manifested realm. Life in this
earthly realm has attracted me, intrigued me; it has
frightened me, abused me, distorted me; it has shown me
dimensions of joy, and of suffering I could never have
imagined.
This manifest world is the out-picturing reality generated
by the Creative Force pouring forth through a filter of some
sort, a prism, if you will, whereby the pure energy
separates into its rainbow vibrations.
As a spirit being, I too have been poured through this
prism. I am a ray of the Divine.
This place has become a laboratory where I am learning to be
free of the entanglements, free of the distortions, no
longer a victim of suffering, no longer a victim of
inaccurate perceptions.
As I practice my spirituality, perfecting the art of growing
into the truth of myself, that self I am calling my spirit
being, I become a different kind of person in the world,
more able to live with its swirling, ever changing
demonstrations of energy patterns, more capable of being a
positive funnel for Divine Expression. More able to assist,
as a ray of Truth, in the restoration of Divine Will. What
God intends.
What we as human beings have caused to happen I do not
believe is that, which God intends.
So, as I understand it, spirituality is not required, for we
have been given free will, the 1st Law of the Universe.
Spirituality [the practice of awakening to our true self] is
a choice, and a rather essential one for me.
