In 1962 the USSR decided to locate their missiles in Cuba. Castro allowed such kind of actions on the Cuban territory being against American imperialism. The Soviets’ plan was gone through. Cuba was supplied with numerous massive arms and missiles. In May and June Cuba got the heavy artillery.
In case of the attacks of Americans on the missile sites four motorized reinforced rifle regiments were sent to Cuba from the USSR. The sent air defense force consisted of 144 launchers and 24 surface-to-air batteries and many other weapons. The coastal defense included cruise missile batteries. Then a group of light bombers and missile-carrying PT boats were sent. Each launcher had two missiles with nuclear warhead. Half of the 80 Soviet missiles located in Cuba had nuclear capabilities.
In summer of 1962 there were some hints of the secret Soviet-Cuban arrangement. The gossips were saying there is no need for Cubans and Soviets to be afraid of Americans any more. But the information had no proves and stayed only a rumor. This caused a big problem for the States.
These things were happening and unfortunately still happen now. Sometimes it seems like weapons appeared at the same time as people at all. Why do people want to kill each other?
