Islam Mania - The Top 5 Misconceptions - Part 1

Verse from the Koran:
[17:33] Nor take life - which Allah has made sacred - except for just cause. And if anyone is slain wrongfully, we have given his heir authority (to demand retaliation or to forgive): but let him not exceed bounds in the matter of taking life, for he is helped (by the Law).

Based on this verse, it is Islamically unlawful to murder anyone who is innocent of certain crimes. It is well to remember at this point the distinction between Islam (based on the Qur'an (Words of God) and Sunnah (words of the Prophet), and the Muslims: only the Qur'an and Sunnah are guaranteed to be in accordance with what the Creator desires, whereas the Muslims, being imperfect Human Beings, may possibly deviate. Hence, if any Muslim kills an innocent person, that Muslim has committed a grave sin, and certainly the action cannot be claimed to have been done "in the name of Islam." The Muslim is at fault, not Islam. This is an incredibly important point.

For example, if a Christian priest is found guilty of Child Molestation, we must not blame Christianity or Jesus, as neither condones such actions. Again, the Christian is at fault, not Christianity.

It should be clear, then, that "Muslim terrorist" is almost an oxymoron: by killing innocent people, a Muslim is committing an awesome sin. This phrase is offensive and demeaning of Islam, and it should be avoided. It is hoped that as the general level of public awareness and understanding of Islam increases, people will keep "terrorism" and "Islam" separate from each other, not to be used in the same phrase.

What about suicide bombing? Does Islam really condone it? For the most reliable verdict, we must analyze the core sources of Islam, Quran and Sunnah.

Quran says:{And do not kill yourselves. Surely, Allaah is Most Merciful to you}, [Chapter 4: Verse 29].
Sunnah says: {Indeed, whoever (intentionally) kills himself, then certainly he will be punished in the Fire of Hell, wherein he shall dwell forever} [Bukhari and Muslim]

Based on these clear cut sources, the Scholars of Islam have passed an unchallengeable verdict. Suicide is NOT ALLOWED in Islam. [The full verdict is available in the link below.] So why do some Muslims do it? They have been mislead to believe it is allowed. Again, we see a difference between Islam and Muslims. It may seem that a majority of the Muslims are mislead, however, this is certainly not the case.

The media has blown up these handful of mislead Muslims and established them as the face of all Muslims. A religion with a following of 1.5 Billion has been attributed to the actions of 20 individuals who clearly do not adhere to the fundamentals of Islam. This is an unfortunate development resulting from the ignorance of the general Media about Islam. My message to those who want to understand Islam, study Islam from its primary sources, the Quran and actions of Prophet Muhammad.

The finest answers to the most common questions about Islam have been compiled for your convenience. All the best.
