Las Vegas City Travel Guide

Las Vegas sprang up from a marshland to become a valley of dried sand valued only by animals and plants requiring little water. Over time, the water of the original marshland worked its way to the surface forming the Colorado River.

In 1829, a small caravan of people moved onto the land. Their leader, Antonio Armijo, sent out men to find water, which only took a short time. Rafael Riviera found an artesian spring bumbling in a meadow. The settlers moved closer to the meadow and named their settlement Las Vegas, Spanish for ‘the meadow’. Little did they know that their settlement would become the largest gambling city in the United States.

Las Vegas is a fun city offering activity holidays exclusive of gambling. Contact the local tour operators in the area and discover that a trip to Las Vegas offers more than throwing dice or trying to beat ‘one arm bandits,’ called slot machines.

When you are ready to make your travel arrangements, local tour operators can help. Worldwide travellers say tours are the cheapest way to travel. Local tour operators have access to the lowest rates on accommodation, air flights, bus tours and special events, which helps make activity holidays affordable.

Las Vegas has several airports, the main one being McCarran International Airport. The airport provides full service to passengers for domestic and international flights including the UK. Three smaller airports provide service for private executive aircraft, charters and private planes. Additionally, they provide mechanical repairs and service for aircraft.

Las Vegas has public transportation buses and trolleys to and from the airport. There are no trains in Las Vegas. The city buses are the CAT, MAX and Deuce lines, which run about every fifteen minutes. A monorail transports people between the casinos along the Vegas Strip. Cabs, limos and car rentals are available

In Las Vegas, rubbing elbows with worldwide visitors including well-known celebrities is very normal. Las Vegas offers city tours to such places as CBS Television City Research Centre, The Adventure Dome at the Circus Circus Hotel, a Gondola Ride, and The Ethel M Chocolate Factory.

Tours include fascinating museums, some of which are far less serious than others are. The Madame Taussand Interactive Museum is a fabulous museum and a place for some great laughs. See Liberace at his personal museum and experience the colossal jackets and the 225 diamond, piano shaped ring. Visit The Atomic Testing Museum, Masquerade Village, Lake Mead, and The Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort.

Your activity holiday will not be complete without great food and drinks to keep up your energy visiting the sites of Las Vegas. You can choose restaurants in any casinos or hotels. You will find sit down restaurants, fast food restaurants and cafés in Las Vegas other than in the casinos and hotels.

By direct contact with local tour operators, you can request additional information about restaurants, bars and cafés in Las Vegas. There are gift shops, clothing and sports shops at the casinos. Downtown offers department stores, shops and boutiques, supermarkets and pharmacies.
