With the growing cost of holidaying abroad, the UK can seem like the perfect option for those wanting a few days away. It’s even more ideal if you have a touring caravan to hitch up and take your accommodation with you.
There’s something to do for all the family. For the literature fans there’s Hill Top Farm – the inspiration for Beatrix Potter and her many children’s books. Or if you like your walking and beautiful scenery, visit Hawkshead, a picture postcard village surrounded by numerous walks across the hills and mountains.
Tarn Hows is a great place to visit if you like to take your dog on holiday with you as the site is dog friendly. It is also one of the best disabled sites in the Lake District, with several signed walks around the lake that are not too strenuous.
If you’re taking the children or grandchildren, then a great place to visit is the Aquarium of the Lakes in Newby Bridge where they can come face to face with sharks, crocodiles and hippos!
If you fancy leaving the children at home and sampling some of the local produce, head to Cockermouth and visit the Jennings Brewery for a guided tour to see how real ale is brewed.
There are many campsites to unhitch your caravan when you arrive, with fantastic scenery and plenty to do.
