Are Parents the Best Teachers?

Are Parents the Best Teachers

The first teachers any of us have had was our parents. They are the ones that have talked to us from the moment we where born. They teach us to speak by talking to us, they teach us to walk by holding our hands and helping us walk on our own, they teach us to ride a bike and are there to pick us up when we fall. They are also the ones that have and still art teaching us right from wrong.

Children even as infants often copy what they see their parents do. Most often your child's first wish is to be like their mother of father. In my open parents are the best teachers not only because they wish their child or children to success but they take great care in teaching them what is right and what is wrong in their eyes.
In a lot of the cases with the parent at home they have a limit of what they can teach their children at home. Granted we are see more and more home schooled children, that is not the norm. We still need teachers who would teach our child/children mathematics, literature, foreign language, biology and interacting with others. One of the questions that I have come up against in the last few years is what we do and do not allow the school system to teach our child/children. Such as female functions that the young girls will start soon. Another is about sex and drugs. Although I am all for them teaching about some of these things with some of the students we have taken a hands on approach with our daughter on talking about all of these topics with her. So much so I think that she has memorized some of it. And of course at this age a lot of young people reject their parents' advices and warnings. They want to learn from their own experience, and part of that is because they do not believe that their parents could possibly understand what they are going through, mostly because we are all so old.

With saying all of this, I must say that I do believe that parents are the best teachers. Although I would never try to take the place of any of our teachers and I do believe that they do the greatest job that is available to any one person. I applaud them in their efforts and think that they are all under paid for their work and efforts in teaching our children.
